Lance Downs, PE, GE



Sr. Principal Civil/Geotechnical Engineer

Lance Downs, PE, GE, is the senior principal engineer and founder at Advanced Remediation Technologies, Inc. (ART) an engineering and construction company. Lance has over 24 years of experience in civil, geotechnical and environmental engineering and over 32 years in construction. Prior to starting Advanced Remediation Technologies, he was the regional manager for the remediation resource group for a national company that served a Northwest and Southwest areas from its base in Portland, Oregon. ART specializes in design-build services for remediation, contaminated sediments, and water system construction projects, which is a tribute to Lance's engineering and construction experience. As the senior principal engineer for ART, he has continued to provide engineering design, design-build, and technical engineering review on drinking water and remediation systems throughout the US. The systems encompass a variety of sites, from underground storage tanks, ports and harbors, to large industrial complexes. Chemicals treated include petroleum hydrocarbons, chlorinated solvents, biocides and herbicides, and inorganic metals. Lance's experience ranges from the cold regions (subarctic Alaska) to the desert Southwest, where he has been the principal engineer for numerous major projects. Lance has experience in every aspect of site investigation and cleanup. He has dual registrations for civil and geotechnical engineer in Oregon as well as being a licensed professional engineer in Alaska, Arizona, and Washington.

Lance's engineering experience and dedicated service to clients has established him as a well-respected engineer. Many of his clients are return clients knowing that they will get a project manager who knows their wants and expectations. Lance is a positive addition to any project team.



Kristin Downs


Kristin Downs is a 1986 graduate of Humboldt State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education. The following year she received her K-12 teaching credential with an additional endorsement for Adapted P.E.

After several years of teaching, she started Advanced Remediation Technologies with her husband Lance in 1999. She is an integral asset to the operational management of the company, as well as a certified Asbestos Inspector.

Kristin has spent years as an active community volunteer, and currently serves as a member of the Canby School District Board of Directors.
